Literature Text

It is time.
I strip it all off,
But only what's
Not of me.
Pure and corrupted,
I step in unhindered.

The day's filth
Sitting on my skin,
My soul's sin
Resting heavy in my heart.

But it's time
To burn it all away.
Burn away the
Lies and decit
That have plagued this soul
For a thousand years;
Decimate what corrupts
Many for eons at a time.

Strip away the hurt,
Peel the pain clean off.
Cleansing my soul,
Not only my body,
Of the pain,
Hatred,
And failure
Accumulated over the years.

And like the peel of an onion...
It comes off,
Layer by layer,
Falling off around me.

As with that pungent flora,
These peels cause my eyes to tear...
For they bring up my failure
To save those I held dear.

As to burn it all away
Is what I would desire.
Let it all just disappear
Like a log inside a fire.
A... poem inspired by my taking of a shower earlier tonight. Because I noticed... I always take hot showers. Never cold, never warm... As if I'm trying to burn something away...

P.S. - The poems I wrote during the poetry jam on 12/15/2012 will be coming up within the next few days. I nearly forgot about them.

...And here I was, reading WAY into it. XD Hah... Showers. I like that you made the last stanza rhyme, and I love the last line. Very interesting imagery... I especially like the part about the onions. ^^
