All alone,
The man in grey
Sits in the shadows
Every day.

Waiting...
Watching...
For his sweet love
To return to him.

Every day is always the same.
The man wakes up,
Out of bed,
And sulks through his routine.

First comes the slow,
Painful walk to the washroom.
He relieves himself, shaves,
And readies for the day.

Next comes his wait
In the kitches
While is coffee brews
And he gets on his shoes.

And then he's off
To his 9 to 5
Job at the office.
Biding his time to the end of the day.

And after work,
Every day, without fail,
The man makes his way
To the park.

The park where he proposed,
And his girl said yes.
The park where she vowed
To meet him when she returned.

The park where they were
To be married in three months time.
And he always sits on the same bench,
Every day, without fail.

Until one day,
When he recieved
A disturbing call
From the hospital.

"Sir, it's about your fioncee.
She's been in a terrible accident,
And has asked you come
As quick as you can."

Seeminly at once,
And with one swift motion,
He pockets his phone,
And sped toward the hospital.

He walks up to the front desk,
Asks the nurse where his girl is.
She leads him down
A thousand identical hallways.

When they finally arrive
After what seemed like hours...
He sees her,
For the first time in months.

His eyes begin to water,
As he gazes upon his
Soon-to-be wife,
Broken and crippled in the bed.

Rushing towards her side,
He's careful not to disturb her.
And as she slowly opens her eyes,
She starts to cry with him.

She reaches for his hand
And he lets her take hold.
The first contact they've had
Since she had laft.

She tries to speak,
But the nurse advises against it.
She lay her head down again,
Just as the man gets an idea.

He turns to the nurse,
Asks for the chaplain.
Borrows the rings
From the couple nextdoor.

The chaplain says some words
From the revered Holy Book.
The man and woman
Softly exchange vows.

And she says,

"I, love you forever.
Forever and always.
Please just remember even if I'm not there...
I'll always love you.
Forever and always."
A poem that took me 6 periods in school to write (each one lasted about 45-50 minutes).

Inspired by the song Forever and Always by Parachute (also, the last stanza is the last verse in the song). [link]

So sweet and sad! I like that you used that song, too... It really fits the poem. Pretty sure that was the first Parachute song that I ever listened to, also.

The emotion in this is crazy strong ;-;
By the tenth stanza, my head was pounding and my heart was aching Q-Q And I thought I couldn't be effected by pixels on a screen. Pfft.

Thanks... :)

I try to let my poems speak from my heart and soul, whether that be from my experiences or from what I've seen and heard.
I try my best to convey those emotions across, because I feel that emotional poetry is one of the only effective releases of the soul.
